One of the design issues we face at LongGreenHouse is the infiltration of stormwater from University run off. Above, Prof Joline Blais finds herself calf-deep in water in a back yard that was covered in grass in 2001.
We have been addressing this issue as a permaculture opportunity: “the problem is the solution” and working with neighbors, students, artists, faculty, engineers, and town officials to find a community based solution.
We have also received a Maine Water Resources Research grant from the Senator George J. Mitchell Center for Environmental and Watershed Research to address the problem. You can view our Permaculture Design and leave comments on this page.
